Intent is a very interesting and powerful word. The more you use the word the more empowering you can feel. A great way to practice the power of this word is to start each day with it. Take a moment when you first open your eyes to think of a positive intention. The dictionary defines intent as – the state of a person’s mind that directs his or her actions toward a specific object.
Think of something you would like to have in your life. It can be material, emotional, or physical. Now say out loud what your intentions are to achieve your want. The following is an example.
My goal is to be more physically active. So my affirmation would be “With intent I will be more conscious of my physical body today”
This is a good one to start with because you will be amazed at how a little intent can go a long way toward feeling better. The first thing to think about is your posture. Are you standing, sitting and walking with intent? By slouching and not putting thought into our bodies daily movements you are not only taxing your body but you are wasting valuable time in a day that could be better put to use. Even while you’re reading this now. are you slouched on the couch or in a chair? or are you sitting tall and supporting your body weight with your core muscles. Do this now sit up as straight as possible. Now lift your shoulders to your ears and roll them back so your chest is out now let your shoulders relax. This is the position that is not only correct posture but also puts as little strain on our bodies as possible. Now with intent be aware of your body’s posture for a day and correct it throughout the day. You will be amazed at how your body will react to your good intentions toward it. So walk with intent. Stand with intent. If your are spending time in front of a computer, sit up, stop slouching and sit with intent.
