Sometimes the mood in the morning can end up setting the tone for the rest of day. As moms its hard to wake up chipper and happy ready to take on the world and your children. We are not Mary Poppins nor should you aspire to be. A spoon full of sugar doesn’t make the medicine go down. Its the reason you have to take it in the first place.
Just say it out loud!
You might already be practicing using your vocal cords in the morning. I know there were many a morning my family and most people living within a 1km radius heard my morning proclamations!
This is no way for anyone to start their day. Your children will feel defeated before they even begin. So start with an affirmation. It is best to come up with your own but even a simple few words while sitting at the side of the bed can define your day, and help jumpstart your brain into the mood and atmosphere you would like to surround you while your day begins.
I like to change mine up once a week. Then stick to that for the entire week. This week is “ I will listen with love and answer with kindness. Sometime I add to it as the week goes by if I need a bit more detail to enhance the effect. Like “ I will listen with love and answer with kindness. and compassion. The important part is that you say it out loud so you can hear it. If you don’t listen to your self why would anyone else.
Next have a routine. If your routine is just getting up and running out of the house. You are running fast to get no where. Take sometime to set up a routine that fits your schedule and gives you the time you and your family need to get out of the house. This one to two hour schedule can add a lot of hours to your families day.
I recommend you day stat 10 to 30 min before your families. This gives you the time you need to wake up and reflect on the coming day without interruption. Get some water into you. And have some ready for your kids. This is a habit that will serve them very well in the future. Know that your routines become their routines. So be careful what message you’re sending its exhausting but they are sponges always absorbing your energy. The good and the bad.
Get in the kitchen. Pull the whole family in and have a breakfast routine that everyone takes part in. I know this sounds like a lot of work but I guarantee that in just a week you will look around the breakfast table and realize just how easy it is with many hands.
